As a follow up to his first autobiography, "Bushcat - Mintrel of the Wild", the author has, in this book, "Bushcat II - Cat ó Nine Tales", continued weaving a potpourri of tales into the tapestry of the subjects that shaped his life. Among the many subjects are his ancestry, early life, African politics, history and colonisation, adventures in aviation and the military, life on the land and experiences with wildlife and the environment. As well as his times as an international travelling musician, he explains what spurred him into writing the montage of songs around these varied subjects.
Although some of these happenings are tragic, laced in this cocktail of authorship are humorous anecdotes about incidents and characters he has met along the way.
This book is sure to evoke a variety of emotions together with documenting some interesting information. To best describe the author's work would be to quote lines from David Gates' song "Guitar Man".
"He can make you laugh, he can make you cry, he can bring you down, he can get you high"
John Edmond has again created a most readable and informative book.
